The platform was designed to address two critical details relevant to school-based support. First, tiered access allows for teachers to manage/view the needs of their students as well as for math coaches (or MTSS teams) to easily manage student groups. The platform is intended to be used within the context of a school or district and to be supportive of team-based approaches to supporting students. By default, teacher accounts have free access to create and manage students in their current rosters. Researchers and coaches/administrators can be provided with organization-level access, such that they may view and (if efficient for the teacher) streamline the management of math learning content across grades (e.g., certain grades focusing on certain facts throughout the year). In sum, a core detail is reducing administrative load and duplicated effort for teachers.
Administrative Levels and Access:
The second detail was related to student access and the diverse levels of performance that exists in classrooms. By default, students have limited access to the system and this (1) simplifies the interface and their overall involvement with the system and (2) permits more flexible means of getting appropriate instruction material in front of the right students. Rather than passwords, all students can access their programming using a unique QR code that can be printed by their teacher or other authorized user. In this manner, student information is kept secure, access is simplified for the student, and QR images can be easily re-printed or re-seeded (i.e., a new link is warranted for some reason).
