The Math Fact Fun platform is being evaluated as a tool to support teachers, math coaches, and general interventionists in the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices. The platform is designed to be used within the context of the school day and is intended to assist and supplement evidence-based instructional practices--not as some alternative approach or curriculum. The goal of this resource is to both meet a current educational need as well as facilitate academic research related to implementation and overall efficacy.
For the most part, nearly all aspects of the framework are derived from existing tools and common practices. All probes, item sets, and protocols for assessments/interventions are derived from the well-estimated Measures and Interventions for Numeracy Development MIND package, a free and evidence-based resource for educators. All elements of the platform are modeled from 'pencil-and-paper' methods that are already in use in schools. For students, the platform is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. For teachers, the platform is designed to be a tool that can be used to inform instructional programming and to facilitate the implementation of evidence-based practices.
The platform leverages technology to automate and streamline various aspects of implementing evidence-based practices. Rather than printing and grading sprint sheets by hand, the platform uses technology so that teachers/coaches can assign problems, monitor progress, program different/additional intervention options, and evaluate for response to instruction/intervention.
